CityU launches vibrant new homepage

CityU prides itself on making use of new media technology to enhance teaching quality and improve internal and external communications in order to promote its commitment to professional education and academic research. In developing its revamped website, the University sought users’ opinions, examined the functions of the website and studied the various homepage designs of leading mainland and overseas universities. Content on the new website is reorganised, while the design employs three major colours, blue, green and orange, to present a vibrant and enticing brand.
Dr Jerry Yu Jer-tsang, Chief Information Officer, said the University’s homepage is an important gateway to external communication. With the retention of all major functions, the new homepage also incorporates multi-media elements and prominent photo stories. “Unlike the previous approach, which focused on internal communication, the new design is more image-conscious and places an emphasis on attracting an external audience,” said Dr Yu.

As technology evolves, so too does the challenge in disseminating information effectively. CityU plans to employ new multimedia technologies as it develops a multi-tiered communication strategy within campus and to a wider local and international audience.
